The CLEVELAND C32969 is a double-end cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in demanding machining operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiN (titanium nitride) finish, this tool delivers extended wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard HSS tooling. It features a 3/4 inch cutting diameter, a 1-5/8 inch length of cut, and a 5-5/8 inch overall length. The right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute geometry and 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation. This tool is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers.
The C32969 belongs to the Cleveland HDC-4C series and is suited for milling high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and general carbon and alloy steels. Its four-flute configuration balances chip clearance with surface finish quality, making it appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard end mill holders and Weldon-style set-screw holders commonly found in vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. The regular length classification fits the majority of standard reach applications in job shop and production environments.
Designed for use in standard 3/4 inch end mill holders and Weldon-style holders on vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills. Rated for primary workpiece materials including high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and steel per material codes M, P, and S.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or quill is in the safe position before inserting or removing the end mill. Secure the Weldon flat set screw to the appropriate torque specification per your tool holder manufacturer guidelines to prevent axial pullout. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating the tool, particularly for finish-pass applications.
