The CLEVELAND C32728 is a 4-flute cobalt square end mill engineered for demanding material removal in high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and steel. Built to M42 cobalt grade, it delivers hardness and heat resistance that exceeds standard high-speed steel tooling. The TiCN coating reduces friction and extends tool life in abrasive cutting conditions. With a 0.75-inch mill diameter, a 4-inch length of cut, and a 6.25-inch overall length, this extra-long tool reaches deep pockets and slots where standard-length end mills cannot. It is center-cutting and runs right-hand cut with right-hand flute spiral geometry, making it suitable for conventional milling operations on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
This end mill is suited for production machining environments where tool longevity and consistent finish quality in tough materials are required. The HGC-4C series targets aerospace, defense, energy, and heavy industrial applications where high-temperature alloys and stainless grades are common workpiece materials. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation in these difficult-to-machine materials. The straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard end mill holders and Weldon-style set-screw holders, making it compatible with common toolholding systems found in most machine shops.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders and Weldon-style set-screw holders accepting a 0.75-inch shank. Primary workpiece materials include high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and steel (material codes M, P, S). Part of the Cleveland HGC-4C series.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with CNC or manual milling equipment. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the end mill from the tool holder. Verify that the Weldon flat is properly aligned with the set screw before tightening to prevent slippage under cutting load. Always confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut before engaging the tool.
