The CLEVELAND C32708 is a 4-flute cobalt square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance at the cutting edge. The 0.5-inch diameter cutter features a 3-inch length of cut, a 5-inch overall length, and a 30-degree helix angle. The centercutting geometry allows plunge milling in addition to peripheral cuts. This end mill is suited for skilled machinists working in production or job-shop environments on CNC or manual milling machines.
This end mill is rated for use on high temperature alloys, stainless steel, and carbon and alloy steels. The extra-long length of cut — 3 inches on a 5-inch OAL tool — makes it well suited for deep-pocket milling, slotting, and profiling where standard-length end mills cannot reach. The straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard 1/2-inch end mill holders and set-screw style toolholders. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flutes make this a conventional-rotation tool compatible with the vast majority of vertical milling setups.
Designed for use in standard 1/2-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-style set-screw toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills. Intended for cutting high temperature alloys, stainless steel, and steel workpieces per primary workpiece material designations M, P, and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque and runout specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the holder with the Weldon flat aligned to the set screw to prevent axial pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout at the tool tip before engaging the workpiece, and confirm spindle rotation direction matches the right-hand cut geometry of this tool.
