The CLEVELAND C32681 is a 4-flute cobalt square end mill designed for demanding metal removal in production machining environments. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, this end mill delivers improved hardness and heat resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. It carries a 1/2-inch cutting diameter with a 2-inch length of cut, a 4-inch overall length, and a straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat for positive tool holding. The 30-degree helix spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. It is a centercutting design, allowing plunge entry into a workpiece. Machinists and CNC operators running production cells install and operate this class of tooling.
The C32681 is suited for milling high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and steel. Its long-series length of cut makes it appropriate for applications requiring extended reach into pockets, slots, or profiles where a standard-length end mill cannot fully engage the workpiece. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional milling setups. The HGC-4C series designation places this tool in a product family optimized for these harder workpiece materials where tool life and edge integrity under heat are critical performance factors.
Designed for use in standard 1/2-inch straight-shank or Weldon flat tool holders on vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills. Primary workpiece materials are high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and steel as specified by the manufacturer for the HGC-4C series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the control placed in an e-stop or lockout condition before changing tooling. Ensure the Weldon flat is aligned with the set screw in the tool holder and torque the set screw to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation before initiating a cutting cycle.
