The CLEVELAND C32550 is a cobalt square end mill built for demanding metal removal in high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and carbon steel. It features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix spiral flute geometry that promotes chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge. The TiCN coating adds surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life in abrasive workpiece materials. Manufactured to M42 cobalt grade, the C32550 delivers the toughness needed when high-speed steel tools fall short. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments rely on this geometry for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations.
The C32550 belongs to the CLEVELAND HGC-2 series, which is optimized for cutting high-temperature alloys, stainless steel grades, and general steel. The 0.5 inch straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accepts standard end mill holders and set-screw toolholders across CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The regular length classification and 3.25 inch overall length suit most standard reach applications without the deflection risk associated with extended-reach tooling. Centercutting geometry allows plunge milling as part of a complete milling cycle.
Designed for use in standard 0.5 inch end mill holders, Weldon-flat toolholders, and collet chucks on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Intended for machining high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and steel workpieces as specified by primary workpiece material codes M, P, and S.
Installation requires a 0.5 inch bore end mill holder or collet chuck; confirm holder runout before use to protect both the tool and the workpiece surface finish. Secure the Weldon flat against the set screw to prevent axial pullout during heavy cuts. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling per standard shop lockout procedures. Consult machine tool documentation and applicable shop safety standards for correct spindle speed and feed rate selection for the workpiece material.
