The CLEVELAND C32246 is a single-end square end mill engineered from powdered metal (PM) stock and finished with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating. Powdered metal construction delivers a finer, more uniform grain structure than standard HSS, improving wear resistance and edge retention under aggressive cutting conditions. The TiCN finish adds additional surface hardness and lubricity, reducing built-up edge and extending tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a 0.375-inch cutting diameter, 1.5-inch length of cut, and 4-flute geometry on a 30-degree right-hand helix, this end mill is suited for finishing and light roughing passes in precision machining environments.
The C32246 is designed for CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where a 0.375-inch straight shank is used. Its 3.25-inch overall length provides adequate reach for standard workholding setups without sacrificing rigidity. The coarse pitch and right-hand cut and flute configuration make it appropriate for general-purpose peripheral milling, slotting, and profiling operations in job shop and production machining applications. Machinists working with steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials will find the PM substrate and TiCN coating well matched to moderate-to-high cutting speeds.
Designed for use in standard 0.375-inch collets, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders on CNC machining centers and conventional vertical mills. Part of the CLEVELAND PMRC Series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Seat the shank to the full recommended insertion depth in the collet or holder to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and compromises dimensional accuracy.
