The CLEVELAND C31999 is a 4-flute powdered metal square end mill engineered for demanding material removal in metalworking and machining applications. Built to PM-4 series specifications, it features a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) finish that improves surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated tooling. The 37-degree spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. At 0.5 inch in diameter with a 1.25-inch length of cut, this end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations where consistent performance and tool life are priorities. Installation and operation require a qualified CNC machinist or manual mill operator.
This end mill is designed for use on vertical and horizontal milling machines, machining centers, and manual knee mills. Its centercutting capability allows it to plunge directly into workpiece material, expanding its range of usable operations. The straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard end mill holders and set-screw collets. Primary workpiece material compatibility covers steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), heat-resistant superalloys (S), and hardened materials (H), making it a versatile tool across general job shop and production environments.
Compatible with workpiece materials coded H, K, M, P, and S per ISO material group classification, including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, and heat-resistant superalloys. Designed for use in standard end mill holders and set-screw collets accepting a 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before securing or removing the tool from its holder. Confirm holder bore size matches the 0.5-inch shank diameter and that the Weldon flat is properly aligned with the set screw. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate against published cutting data for the workpiece material and coating type before beginning a cut.
