The CLEVELAND C31993 is a 4-flute square end mill designed for general-purpose milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. Built from M42 powdered metal with a TiCN finish, it delivers consistent cutting performance and extended tool life compared to standard high-speed steel tooling. The end mill measures 0.3125 inches in diameter with a 0.75-inch length of cut and a 0.375-inch straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat. At 2.5 inches overall length, it fits standard toolholders used in vertical and horizontal milling setups. The 37-degree helix and spiral flute geometry promote chip evacuation and reduce heat buildup during cuts. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, heat-resistant alloys, and similar materials as indicated by workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S. It is used in job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration match the standard spindle rotation of most CNC and manual milling machines. Its regular-length geometry makes it a practical choice for general-depth cuts where extended reach is not required.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement-style end mill for applications within the CLEVELAND PM-4 series, compatible with standard 3/8-inch collets, end mill holders, and Weldon-flat toolholders used in CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the set screw against the Weldon flat per the toolholder manufacturer guidelines. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, and confirm that cutting parameters are appropriate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
