The CLEVELAND C30268 is a straight-shank chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal workpieces. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers consistent sizing and surface quality in drilling and boring operations. The 6-flute spiral configuration with right-hand cut and right-hand spiral direction provides smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting action. At 0.5000 inch diameter with an 8-inch overall length and 2-inch flute length, this reamer is sized for production and maintenance machining environments where accurate bore geometry is required. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians rely on chucking reamers of this type for final-pass bore finishing in drill press, lathe, and CNC operations.
The C30268 is suited for reaming ferrous and non-ferrous metals in general machine shop, toolroom, and maintenance machining applications. The straight shank allows direct mounting in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Its 0.5000 inch diameter fits the 0.5000 to 0.6999 inch reamer diameter range class. Typical use cases include finishing drilled or bored holes to close tolerances in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials where a hand reamer or single-flute tool would not meet production throughput or finish requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard drill press, lathe tailstock, and CNC machining center setups accepting straight-shank tooling in the 0.5000 inch diameter class.
Installation and use of this tool should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the straight shank firmly in a properly sized chuck or collet before operating; verify runout with an indicator before finish-reaming critical bores. Always reduce spindle speed relative to drilling and apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and achieve target surface finish. Do not use a chucking reamer to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or bore to within a few thousandths of final size before reaming.
