The CLEVELAND C26083 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal machining operations. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers consistent sizing and smooth surface finish in through-hole and blind-hole applications. It features a 0.5000 inch diameter, a 2 inch flute length, and an 8 inch overall length. The straight shank allows it to be held securely in standard drill chucks, collet chucks, or floating reamer holders on lathes, mills, and drill presses. Six right-hand-cut flutes distribute cutting load evenly and help maintain dimensional accuracy during the finishing pass.
This reamer is suited for production and maintenance machining environments where holes must be brought to a precise finished diameter. Typical applications include reaming drilled holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. It is commonly used by machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians working with manual lathes, CNC turning centers, drill presses, and milling machines. The straight-flute geometry is well suited for through-hole reaming and works effectively in short-chipping materials.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in lathes, drill presses, milling machines, and CNC machining centers equipped with a drill chuck, ER collet, or floating reamer holder sized for a straight shank in the 0.5000 inch diameter range.
Reaming should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures. Always secure the workpiece before operation and ensure the reamer shank is fully seated and clamped in the holder before starting the machine. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Never use a reamer to remove excessive stock — the preceding drill or bore should leave only a small amount of material for the finishing pass.
