The CLEVELAND C25550 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to bring bored or drilled holes to a precise finished diameter. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers accurate sizing at 0.2656 inches (17/64 inch) nominal diameter. The straight shank seats directly in a drill chuck or collet holder on a drill press, lathe, or milling machine. Six flutes provide a smooth, consistent cutting action with a right-hand cut direction. The 6-inch overall length and 1.5-inch flute length make it suited for moderate-depth finishing passes in a machine shop or maintenance environment. Machinists, toolmakers, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary users of this tool.
This chucking reamer is used in machine reaming operations where a drilled hole must be brought to a close-tolerance finished size. It is appropriate for reaming in ferrous and non-ferrous metals in production and job-shop settings. The straight flute geometry performs well in through-hole applications and in materials that produce short, brittle chips. No special adapters are required when the straight shank is held in a standard drill chuck or collet within its size range.
Designed as a general-purpose machine chucking reamer for use in drill presses, engine lathes, and milling machines equipped with a drill chuck or collet holder that accepts a straight shank in the 17/64 inch diameter range.
A licensed machinist or trained industrial maintenance technician should set up and operate this reamer. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the reamer. Secure the straight shank firmly in a properly sized collet or drill chuck to prevent runout, which will degrade hole tolerance and tool life. Use an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material and never force the reamer through a significantly undersized hole.
