The CLEVELAND C25404 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for finishing drilled holes to precise tolerances. Ground from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers accurate hole sizing in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It carries a 0.2040 inch cutting diameter, falls in the No. 6 wire gauge size range, and features 6 flutes with a right-hand cut for clean, consistent chip evacuation. Overall length is 5 inches with a 1.25 inch flute length. Machinists and tool-room technicians use this reamer in drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers where repeatable hole finish and dimensional accuracy are required.
This chucking reamer is suited for production and maintenance machining environments where wire-gauge-size holes must be brought to final dimension with minimal runout. The straight shank seats directly in standard drill chucks or collets without requiring a Morse taper adapter. The 6-flute geometry distributes cutting load evenly, reducing chatter in both through-hole and blind-hole applications on light to medium-duty setups.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, engine lathes, turret lathes, and CNC machining centers equipped with drill chucks or collet holders accepting a straight-shank tool. Intended for finishing holes in the 0.2000 to 0.2499 inch diameter range.
Chucking reamers should be installed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before securing or changing the tool in the chuck or collet. Run at appropriate reamer speeds and feeds for the workpiece material — reamers require lower RPM and higher feed rates than drill bits to avoid chatter and premature edge wear. Never rotate a reamer in reverse, as this will dull the cutting edges immediately.
