The CLEVELAND C24276 is a taper pin reamer designed to enlarge, finish, and shape tapered holes to accept standard taper pins. Built from high-speed steel (HSS), this Size 0 reamer features a spiral flute geometry with right-hand cutting direction and left-hand spiral for improved chip evacuation and a smooth finish on the workpiece. The small end diameter measures 0.1287 inches and the large end measures 0.1638 inches, with a taper rate of 1:48. A square shank provides positive drive in a standard tap wrench or brace. General-purpose tool performance makes it suitable for production and maintenance work across a wide range of metalworking applications.
This reamer is intended for use on cast iron, steel, and steel alloy workpieces. It is commonly used in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and manufacturing environments where taper pin holes must be precisely sized for pins that secure collars, hubs, or mechanical assemblies to shafts. The 1.6875-inch flute length and 2.9375-inch overall length suit it to shallow-to-medium depth holes typical of these assemblies. Machinists and maintenance technicians working on rotating machinery components are the primary users of this tool.
Designed for use in standard Size 0 taper pin applications. Compatible with cast iron, steel, and steel alloy workpieces as noted by the manufacturer. Intended for general-purpose hole enlarging, finishing, and shaping operations requiring a 1:48 taper rate.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists or maintenance technicians using a tap wrench, brace, or appropriate machine spindle. Always secure the workpiece before reaming and apply cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Do not reverse rotation under load, as this can damage the cutting edges. Inspect the reamer for wear or chipping before each use.
