The CLEVELAND C16956 is a cobalt steel jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding metal-cutting applications in the shop or field. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN for added surface hardness and heat resistance, this bit handles tough materials where standard HSS bits wear prematurely. It measures 3.5 inches overall with a 3/16-inch diameter straight-cylindrical shank and a parabolic flute design that improves chip evacuation during deep-hole drilling. The 135-degree split point starts on contact without a center punch, reducing walking on flat or curved surfaces. Licensed tradespeople and machinists reach for this bit when precision and tool life are the priority.
This drill bit is suited for drilling aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, as well as light ferrous applications requiring a longer-wearing edge than standard HSS. The parabolic flute geometry makes it effective in both hand-held and drill-press setups. The 3/16-inch size is a common callout in sheet metal, plumbing rough-in, electrical raceway, and HVAC bracket work. Web-thinned construction at the tip reduces thrust requirements, making it practical for cordless drill use in tight spaces or on the job site. Sold individually, with a minimum order of 10 units.
Designed as a standard jobber-length replacement drill bit in the CLEVELAND 2075N series, fitting any 3/16-inch capable drill chuck in stationary or handheld applications.
Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck and verify concentricity before use. Apply appropriate cutting fluid when drilling ferrous metals to preserve the coating and extend edge life. Replace the bit when thrust noticeably increases or when the cutting edge shows visible wear to avoid workpiece damage or bit breakage. This product is intended for use by machinists, metal fabricators, and trade professionals familiar with safe drilling practices.
