The CLEVELAND C16786 is a taper length drill bit built for heavy-duty drilling across a wide range of materials. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it holds cutting hardness under high heat and resists wear in demanding production or field applications. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and requires no center punch on most surfaces. A parabolic flute profile improves chip evacuation, keeping the flute clear during deep-hole passes. The bit measures 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch decimal) in diameter with a 3-5/8 inch flute length and a 6 inch overall length. Right-hand cut with a straight shank, it fits standard drill chucks without adapters. Packaged as a single unit.
This bit is suited for metalworking, maintenance, and fabrication environments where standard jobber-length bits lack the reach needed for deeper holes. Compatible with handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC drilling setups using standard straight-shank tool holders. Material applications include aluminum, brass, carbon steel, cast iron, nickel alloy, plastic, stainless steel, and tool steel. The heavy-duty grade and cobalt construction make it a practical choice when drilling harder alloys or abrasive materials that wear through standard HSS tooling quickly.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks on handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC machines. Rated for drilling aluminum, brass, carbon steel, cast iron, nickel alloy, plastic, stainless steel, and tool steel per manufacturer specification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians using a drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle. Secure the straight shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. When drilling ferrous metals or stainless steel, use appropriate cutting fluid to extend tool life and manage heat. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and replace the bit if chipping or rounding is observed.
