The CLEVELAND C16776 is a taper length, straight-shank drill bit engineered for demanding metal-cutting applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat and wear resistance well beyond standard HSS tooling. The 135-degree split point reduces thrust and walking on entry, eliminating the need for a center punch in most setups. A parabolic flute profile accelerates chip evacuation, keeping the cutting zone clear during deep-hole drilling. The bit measures 0.0625 inches in diameter with a 1.75-inch flute length and a 3-inch overall length, making it a heavy-duty option for production and maintenance environments alike. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance mechanics are the primary users.
This drill bit is rated for use across a broad range of materials including aluminum, brass, carbon steel, cast iron, nickel alloy, plastic, stainless steel, and tool steel. The taper length body provides additional reach compared to a jobber-length bit, making it well suited for applications where standard-length tooling cannot access the work. The right-hand cutting direction and web-thinned, tapered web construction are optimized for manual and CNC drill press operations where precision entry and clean chip flow are critical.
Compatible with aluminum, brass, carbon steel, cast iron, nickel alloy, plastic, stainless steel, and tool steel workpieces. Fits any drill chuck or collet accepting a 1/16-inch straight shank. Conforms to ASME B94.11M and DIN 340 standards.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operating the drill press or CNC machine, and verify there is no runout before cutting. Always wear appropriate eye protection and use cutting fluid or coolant appropriate to the workpiece material to extend tool life. Do not exceed the recommended RPM for the drill diameter and material being cut.
