The CLEVELAND C16759 is a taper length drill bit built for heavy-duty drilling in demanding trade and industrial applications. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it carries a wire gauge size of No. 36, corresponding to a decimal diameter of 0.1065 inches. The 135-degree split point starts on contact without a center punch and reduces walking on hard surfaces. A parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup during deep-hole drilling. The straight shank measures 0.1065 inches in diameter and accepts standard drill chucks. This bit is rated heavy-duty and conforms to ASME B94.11M and DIN 340 standards, making it a reliable choice for professional machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians who drill frequently into tough materials.
The C16759 is suited for use on aluminum, brass, carbon steel, cast iron, nickel alloy, plastic, stainless steel, and tool steel. Its taper length body — with a 2.5-inch flute and 4.625-inch overall length — gives it reach beyond what a jobber-length bit provides, making it practical for through-hole work in thicker stock or hard-to-access locations. It cuts right-hand only and requires no coolant-through capability, keeping setup simple in manual drill press and hand-drill applications.
Designed as a heavy-duty taper length replacement or supplemental drill bit for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks; compatible with the material types listed: aluminum, brass, carbon steel, cast iron, nickel alloy, plastic, stainless steel, and tool steel per Series 2575 specifications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with drill press or power-drill operation. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and verify chuck grip on the straight shank before applying load. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable shop safety protocols when working with cobalt drill bits at high RPM. Inspect the cutting edge for wear or chipping before each use, particularly when drilling stainless steel or nickel alloy.
