The CLEVELAND C16753 is a taper length cobalt drill bit designed for heavy-duty drilling in demanding shop and field environments. Built to Series 2575 specifications, it carries a 135-degree split point that starts on contact without walking, reducing the need for a center punch on most surfaces. The parabolic flute geometry evacuates chips aggressively, making it well suited for deep-hole work in tough materials. At 0.1285 inches in diameter (Wire Size 30) with a 3-inch flute length and 5-3/8 inches overall length, it covers a range of taper-length drilling tasks. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians are the primary installers and users of this bit.
This drill bit is rated for use across a broad range of materials including aluminum, brass, carbon steel, cast iron, nickel alloy, plastic, stainless steel, and tool steel. The cobalt construction and M42 grade material make it especially capable in high-heat, work-hardening materials like stainless steel and nickel alloy where standard high-speed steel bits lose their edge quickly. It is appropriate for both production drilling environments and maintenance-repair-operations (MRO) settings where versatility across material types is required.

This bit is installed and operated by machinists and maintenance technicians using standard drill presses, CNC machines, or hand drills with appropriate chuck capacity. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and confirm the chuck is tightened fully on the straight shank to prevent slippage and runout. Use appropriate cutting fluid for ferrous and stainless materials to extend bit life and maintain tolerances. Inspect the cutting edges before each use; cobalt bits subjected to overheating or improper feed rates may show edge deterioration that affects hole-diameter accuracy.
