The CLEVELAND C16705 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for heavy-duty drilling in hard and abrasive materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this bit delivers extended tool life in ferrous metals, stainless steel, and high-strength alloys. The 135-degree split point reduces walking at startup and lowers thrust requirements, while the parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation. At 3.661 inches overall length with a 2.244-inch flute length, it fits standard jobber-length applications across a wide range of drill press and handheld power tool setups.
This bit is suited for maintenance, fabrication, and mechanical trades that regularly drill into tough base materials. It is a strong fit for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractors who need to bore through structural steel, thick gauge sheet metal, or hardened fastener plates. The straight-cylindrical shank accommodates standard three-jaw chucks. The web-thinned, tapered-web construction reduces cutting resistance and heat buildup during prolonged use. Sold individually, it is appropriate for single-use replacement or as a line-stocked precision drill for trade toolboxes.
Designed as a Series 2075T jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard three-jaw chucks accepting a 0.2165-inch straight-cylindrical shank, suitable for drill presses, magnetic drills, and handheld power tools used in metalworking and trade applications.
Installation and use should follow standard machining safety practices. Secure the workpiece fully before drilling and confirm the chuck is tightened to manufacturer specifications before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to reduce heat and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and replace the bit if chipping, dulling, or coating wear is observed.
