The CLEVELAND C16700 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for heavy-duty drilling applications in hard and abrasive materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers superior heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS bits. The titanium nitride (TiN) coating further extends tool life by reducing friction and surface wear. Measuring 3.5 mm in diameter with an overall length of 2.756 inches and a flute length of 1.535 inches, this bit features a 135-degree split point that enables fast penetration with minimal walking on entry. It is suited for use by machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and other trade professionals requiring reliable performance in ferrous metals, stainless steel, and tough alloys.
The C16700 is intended for general-purpose and production drilling in metal fabrication, mechanical, and trade service environments. The parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, reducing heat buildup during deep-hole drilling. The straight-cylindrical shank provides secure, concentric seating in standard drill chucks and compatible collet systems. This bit conforms to DIN 338 specification, making it a recognized standard-geometry replacement in both shop and field settings.
Designed as a standard jobber length drill bit per DIN 338 specification with a 3.5 mm diameter and straight-cylindrical shank, compatible with conventional keyed and keyless drill chucks accepting a 0.1378-inch shank diameter.
Installation and use of this drill bit is typically performed by machinists, electricians, plumbers, or general trade technicians. Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck before operation and verify concentricity before drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling ferrous or stainless materials to reduce heat and extend bit life. Follow applicable shop safety standards and wear proper eye protection during all drilling operations.
