The CLEVELAND C16643 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in metal and hard materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this bit handles heat and wear better than standard HSS tooling. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and allows drilling to start without a center punch in most applications. A parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, keeping the cut clean and reducing the need to peck-drill. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks. This is a heavy-duty grade bit suited for production and maintenance drilling environments.
The C16643 is a wire size 31 bit (0.1200 inches) intended for use in metal fabrication, mechanical assembly, maintenance repair, and production drilling applications. The TiN coating extends tool life when drilling carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and similar ferrous materials. The parabolic flute design and web-thinned, tapered web construction make it particularly effective in deep-hole and interrupted-cut scenarios. It is appropriate for use in hand drills, drill presses, and CNC equipment where a 0.1200-inch straight shank is accepted.
Designed as a heavy-duty OEM-style replacement or direct-use jobber drill bit for applications requiring a 0.1200-inch diameter straight-shank bit in standard three-jaw drill chucks and collet holders accepting that shank diameter.
Installation is performed by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, or maintenance professionals using a drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck before operation and confirm runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling ferrous metals to maximize tool life, even though this bit does not support through-coolant. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
