The CLEVELAND C16639 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for production drilling in metal and hard materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in demanding applications. The 135-degree split point starts on contact without a center punch, reducing walking and improving hole location accuracy. A parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, which is especially useful when drilling deep holes or working in stringy materials. With an overall length of 3 inches and a straight-cylindrical shank measuring 0.144 inches in diameter, it fits standard drill chucks without adapters.
This bit is suited for repetitive production drilling, maintenance and repair operations, and general metalworking tasks where standard HSS bits wear too quickly. The TiN coating reduces friction at the cutting edge, which helps maintain sharpness over more cycles. It is used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and industrial tradespeople drilling ferrous metals, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard alloys. The Series 2075T designation places it in a heavy-duty cobalt line built to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards. Sold individually.
Designed as a jobber-length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and drill presses that accept a 0.144-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling ferrous and non-ferrous metals where a heavy-duty cobalt bit is specified.
Install in a keyed or keyless chuck and verify the shank is fully seated and secure before operation. Power down the drill press or disconnect the tool before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling hard metals to manage heat buildup at the cutting edge. Follow applicable shop safety standards and wear eye protection during all drilling operations.
