The CLEVELAND C16624 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for demanding metal drilling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this bit handles harder materials and higher heat better than standard HSS tooling. The 135-degree split point geometry reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements. A parabolic flute profile improves chip evacuation, keeping the cutting zone clear during deep passes. Overall length is 3.5 inches with a flute length of approximately 2.31 inches. The straight-cylindrical shank diameter matches the drill bit diameter at 0.1850 inches, fitting standard three-jaw chucks without adapters.
The C16624 is sized to wire gauge number 13, with a decimal diameter of 0.1850 inches. It is suited for use in ferrous metals, stainless steel, hardened alloys, and other tough materials where standard cobalt bits are the appropriate choice. Typical applications include production drilling, maintenance and repair operations, and fabrication work in industrial, mechanical, and trade shop environments. This is a right-hand cut bit used in standard drilling equipment including drill presses, hand drills, and CNC machines. It meets ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-production drill bit for use in any three-jaw chuck or collet system accepting a 0.1850-inch straight-cylindrical shank, consistent with ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 specifications.
Install in a properly sized three-jaw chuck or collet and tighten securely before operation. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure workpieces firmly before drilling. Use cutting fluid appropriate to the base material to maximize tool life, particularly when drilling stainless steel or hardened alloys. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
