The CLEVELAND C16614 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit in No. 3 wire size (0.2130 inches decimal), designed for high-performance drilling in tough materials. Built to Series 2075T standards and coated with titanium nitride (TiN), this bit offers extended tool life and reduced friction during operation. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and minimizes the need for a center punch. With an overall length of 3.75 inches and a parabolic flute geometry, it evacuates chips efficiently during deep drilling. This is a heavy-duty grade bit rated for demanding production and maintenance applications. Licensed machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and maintenance mechanics are the typical end users.
The C16614 is suited for drilling ferrous and high-strength alloy materials where standard HSS bits lose their edge prematurely. Its M42 cobalt steel composition resists heat buildup at the cutting edge, making it appropriate for stainless steel, hardened steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard three-jaw chucks on drill presses, hand drills, and magnetic-base drills. The parabolic flute design maintains chip clearance across the full 2.5-inch flute length, reducing bit binding in through-hole applications. This bit is sold individually as a single-piece unit.
Designed as a jobber-length replacement or production bit for applications requiring a No. 3 wire size (0.2130 inches) drill in a straight-cylindrical shank configuration. Compatible with any standard three-jaw drill chuck sized to accept a 0.2130-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, electricians, and pipefitters using standard drill presses or handheld power drills. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before beginning a cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to preserve the TiN coating and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and replace the bit if chipping or significant wear is observed.
