The CLEVELAND C16575 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding metal-cutting applications where standard high-speed steel bits fall short. Built to M42 cobalt alloy specification, this 3/8-inch diameter bit runs a 135-degree split point that self-centers on contact and reduces the thrust needed to start a hole. The parabolic flute geometry moves chips out of the cut efficiently, reducing heat buildup during deep drilling. At 5 inches overall length with a 3-5/8-inch flute length, it fits standard drill chucks and drill presses used in professional fabrication and maintenance work. The gold oxide finish adds surface hardness and provides visual wear indication.
This bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in cast iron, stainless steel, carbon steel, and non-ferrous metals. The heavy-duty M42 cobalt construction handles the work hardening and heat generated when drilling stainless steel and other tough alloys. It is a right-hand cut bit with a straight cylindrical shank, compatible with standard three-jaw chucks. Typical users include machinists, pipefitters, ironworkers, and maintenance technicians who need a reliable heavy-duty bit for on-site or shop drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 3/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon steel workpieces in both shop and field applications.
This bit should be installed by a qualified machinist or trade professional familiar with metal-cutting drill press or hand-drill operation. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and ensure the chuck is fully tightened on the shank. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel or hard alloys to manage heat and prolong bit life. Do not exceed the recommended RPM range for the bit diameter and material being drilled.
