The CLEVELAND C16547 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in hard and abrasive materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a gold oxide coating, it delivers extended tool life under elevated cutting temperatures. The split point tip at 135 degrees reduces walking on entry and requires no center punch on most surfaces. With a parabolic flute design, this bit evacuates chips aggressively, making it well-suited for deep-hole drilling applications. It is installed and used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking professionals operating drill presses, lathes, or hand-held power drills.
This bit is sized to wire gauge 45, which corresponds to 0.0820 inch decimal diameter. It is intended for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon steel. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification. The parabolic flute geometry and web-thinned, tapered web construction reduce thrust force and improve chip clearing in tough alloys, including stainless steel where heat buildup is a common failure point for standard HSS bits. It fits production drilling, toolroom work, and field maintenance tasks where accuracy and durability matter.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.0820 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. Part of the Cleveland Series 2075 heavy-duty cobalt jobber drill line.
This drill bit is installed in any standard keyed or keyless chuck compatible with the 0.0820 inch shank diameter. Secure the shank fully in the chuck jaws before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel or hardened alloys to manage heat, even though this bit does not support through-coolant delivery. Inspect the cutting edges and point for wear before each use; cobalt bits can chip if run at incorrect speeds or used on hardened materials beyond their rated grade.
