The CLEVELAND C16545 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit in wire gauge size 43, with a decimal diameter of 0.0890 inches and a 135-degree split point. Built to M42 cobalt steel grade, the bit carries a gold oxide coating and features a parabolic flute design that evacuates chips efficiently in deep-hole drilling applications. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.0890 inches in diameter and 1.00 inch in shank length, giving it a consistent grip in standard drill chucks. With an overall length of 2.25 inches and a flute length of 1.25 inches, this is a heavy-duty bit sized for precision work in production and maintenance environments. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and mechanical contractors commonly reach for this size in high-demand drilling operations.
The C16545 is suited for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon steel. The parabolic flute geometry reduces cutting friction and heat buildup, which is critical when working stainless or hardened steel without through-coolant. It is a right-hand-cut bit, intended for standard clockwise-rotation drilling. The Series 2075 designation places it within a heavy-duty wire-size family designed for consistent dimensional accuracy across repeated use in both manual and CNC drill applications. It conforms to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use jobber drill bit for standard three-jaw drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.0890-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for use in hand drills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers set up for wire-gauge-size tooling.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck before drilling and verify chuck runout is within acceptable limits for small-diameter bits to avoid breakage. When drilling stainless steel or hardened alloys, use a lower RPM and consistent feed pressure to prevent work hardening ahead of the cutting edge. Coolant or cutting fluid is recommended where possible, though this bit does not support through-coolant. Inspect the split point for chipping before reuse, as small-diameter cobalt bits can fracture under side load.
