The CLEVELAND C16543 is a jobber-length twist drill bit in wire gauge size No. 41, measuring 0.0960 inches in diameter. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a gold oxide coating, this bit is engineered for heavy-duty drilling in hard and abrasive materials. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements compared to conventional 118-degree points. The parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation, which is critical when drilling deep holes in tough stock. Right-hand cut with a straight cylindrical shank, it fits standard drill chucks without adapters. This is a Series 2075 bit conforming to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards.
The C16543 is suited for drilling cast iron, carbon and alloy steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals in production and maintenance environments. The M42 cobalt alloy composition provides heat resistance that extends tool life when drilling work-hardening materials such as stainless steel without coolant through the bit. Typical applications include metal fabrication shops, mechanical contractors, and maintenance technicians drilling small-diameter holes where a standard HSS bit would wear prematurely. Sold individually as a single bit per package.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for any No. 41 wire gauge jobber-length drill bit application requiring a 0.0960-inch diameter straight-shank bit in standard drill chucks and drill press spindles.
Installation should be performed by a machinist, metalworker, or qualified maintenance technician. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before drilling. Always power down and lock out the drill press or hand drill before changing bits. Do not exceed the recommended speed range for the workpiece material and bit diameter, as overheating a cobalt bit without coolant will reduce its hardness and shorten service life.
