The CLEVELAND C16527 is a jobber-length drill bit engineered for heavy-duty metal drilling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a gold oxide coating, this bit holds its edge under high heat and resists wear when cutting hard and abrasive materials. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and requires no center punch on most flat surfaces. The parabolic flute geometry evacuates chips efficiently, reducing heat buildup and allowing faster feed rates. At 3 inches overall length and 0.1495 inches in diameter, it fits standard drill chucks and is suited for use in both handheld and machine-mounted operations. Licensed machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking tradespeople are the primary users.
This bit is designed for drilling cast iron, stainless steel, carbon steel, and non-ferrous metals. The cobalt M42 construction makes it especially effective on work-hardening alloys such as austenitic stainless steel, where standard high-speed steel bits lose their edge rapidly. The gold oxide finish provides lubricity and additional heat resistance. Typical install scenarios include fabrication shops, field repair, and production drilling where consistent hole quality in tough materials is required. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard Jacobs-style chucks and collet holders.
Designed as a heavy-duty replacement jobber-length drill bit for applications requiring wire size 25 (0.1495 inches) hole diameter in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Compatible with any standard drill press, CNC machine, or handheld drill with a chuck capacity covering 0.1495 inches.
This bit is installed and used by machinists and metal fabrication technicians. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck before operation and confirm the bit is concentric to minimize runout. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel or cast iron to extend bit life, noting this bit does not support through-coolant. Follow all applicable shop safety protocols including eye protection and proper workpiece clamping.
