The CLEVELAND C16525 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size 23, with a decimal diameter of 0.154 inches and an overall length of 3-1/8 inches. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a gold oxide coating, it delivers elevated heat and wear resistance in demanding production environments. The 135-degree split point reduces thrust and self-centers on contact, eliminating the need for a center punch on most surfaces. The parabolic flute geometry clears chips efficiently, reducing heat buildup during deep-hole drilling. This bit is suited for machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking trades who need consistent performance in tough materials.
This drill bit is designed for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon and alloy steels. The M42 cobalt grade makes it particularly well suited for interrupted cuts and abrasive alloys where standard HSS bits fail prematurely. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before beginning a cut. Use cutting fluid or coolant appropriate for the workpiece material when drilling stainless steel or hard alloys to maximize bit life. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or edge wear is visible.
