The CLEVELAND C16068 is a taper length twist drill bit engineered for precision hole-making in a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright/uncoated finish, the C16068 features a 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch) diameter, a 118-degree notched point, and a parabolic flute geometry designed to improve chip evacuation and reduce heat buildup during cutting. Overall length is 6 inches, with a 3-5/8 inch flute length and a tanged shank for secure chuck retention. Diameter tolerance is held to +0.0000 to -0.0007 inches, making it suitable for applications requiring consistent hole sizing. The tapered web configuration and web-thinned point reduce entry thrust and improve centering accuracy.
The C16068 is well suited for general metalworking and maintenance applications across industrial, commercial, and trade settings. Its material compatibility spans alloy steel, carbon steel, aluminum, copper alloy, stainless steel, and other non-ferrous metals. The parabolic flute design makes it effective in deeper hole drilling where chip clearance is critical. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, maintenance mechanics, and trade professionals working in fabrication or field repair will find this bit performs reliably across common drill press and hand drill applications. Series 2565 drill bits conform to ASME B94.11M standards.
Compatible with alloy steel, carbon steel, aluminum, copper alloy, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals. Designed for use with standard drill presses and hand drills accepting a 7/32 inch tanged-shank bit. Conforms to ASME B94.11M dimensional standards.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with proper drill speeds, feeds, and workholding practices. Secure the workpiece fully before drilling to prevent movement. Ensure the drill press or driver is powered off and the chuck is fully released before inserting or removing the bit. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel or other work-hardening alloys to extend bit life and maintain hole quality.
