The CLEVELAND C15945 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit engineered for heavy-duty metal removal in demanding shop and field applications. Built to M42 cobalt steel specification, it delivers the heat and wear resistance required when drilling superalloys, stainless steel, and other hard materials that quickly destroy standard high-speed steel tooling. The bit features a 135-degree split point for fast penetration and reduced walking on curved or irregular surfaces, and a fast-spiral flute design that promotes efficient chip evacuation. At 3.75 inches overall length with a 1.25-inch flute, it fits standard drill chucks without an adapter. Licensed machinists, tool and die specialists, and maintenance mechanics are the primary installers.
The C15945 is sized to wire gauge number 6, equal to 0.2040 inch decimal diameter, placing it in the 0.2000 to 0.2500 inch size range. It is well suited to aerospace MRO, precision fabrication, and production drilling in materials classified as superalloys. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in any standard keyed or keyless chuck accepting 0.2040-inch shanks. The oxide coating provides a layer of corrosion and wear resistance without adding meaningful dimensional stack-up to the shank. This bit is sold as a single unit and is appropriate wherever NAS-spec tooling is called for on the shop floor or in the field.
Designed as an OEM-grade replacement or direct-issue cobalt drill bit for any application requiring a wire size number 6 (0.2040 inch) straight-shank jobber length drill, particularly where NAS-specification tooling is mandated for superalloy or hard-metal work.
Install this bit in a keyed or keyless drill chuck rated for the intended spindle speed and torque of the drilling application. Secure the shank fully to the recommended insertion depth before starting the spindle. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material, even though the bit does not support through-coolant, to manage heat at the cutting edge. Inspect the split point for chipping or wear before each use; a damaged point on cobalt tooling should be reground or the bit replaced before continuing work.
