The CLEVELAND C15944 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for demanding metal removal applications, particularly in superalloy and hard-material workpieces. Built to Series 3780 standards and classified as heavy duty, it features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust force compared to a conventional 118-degree grind. The M42 cobalt high-speed steel construction provides heat and wear resistance needed when drilling stainless steel, Inconel, titanium, and similar tough materials. A fast spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation, and the oxide finish adds surface hardness. This bit is used by machinists, pipefitters, and HVAC fabricators working with high-strength metals on the job site or in the shop.
The C15944 fits standard drill chucks and is suited for hand-held and machine-mounted drilling operations where a 13/64-inch diameter hole is required. Its straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in keyed or keyless chucks. The 3-5/8-inch overall length and 1-3/16-inch flute length make it appropriate for shallow-to-moderate depth holes in superalloy components, structural steel, and other hard metals encountered in HVAC, plumbing, and general fabrication work. The web-thinned, tapered web design reduces cutting resistance without sacrificing rigidity.
Designed for drilling superalloys, stainless steel, and other hard metals. Fits any standard drill chuck accepting a 13/64-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Conforms to ASME B94.11M and NAS specification designation for jobber length drill bits.
Use of appropriate cutting fluid or coolant is strongly recommended when drilling superalloys and hardened metals to manage heat buildup and extend tool life. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent movement. This bit is intended for use by qualified machinists, pipefitters, or trade professionals familiar with proper drilling techniques and speeds for the workpiece material. Follow the drill press or power tool manufacturer guidelines for RPM settings appropriate to the material and bit diameter.
