The CLEVELAND C15940 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for demanding metal-removal applications where high heat and abrasion resistance are required. Built to Material Grade M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this bit holds its edge when drilling through superalloys, stainless steel, and other hard materials that wear out standard HSS tooling quickly. It features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and lowers the thrust required to start a hole without a center punch. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. This is a heavy-duty, professional-grade tool intended for machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians working with hard metals.
The C15940 is sized as Wire Size 10, with a decimal diameter of 0.1935 inches. It is suited for precision hole work in superalloys, high-nickel alloys, hardened steel, and similar materials across manufacturing, aerospace maintenance, and industrial repair environments. The cobalt oxide coating provides additional surface hardness and corrosion resistance. Its fast spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in deep-hole drilling scenarios. This bit is intended for installation by machinists or qualified maintenance technicians using a drill press, mill, or hand-held drill with a properly tightened chuck. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent movement that can snap small-diameter bits. Use cutting fluid or coolant appropriate for the workpiece material to extend bit life, noting that this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or significant wear is observed.
