The CLEVELAND C15930 is a jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge 18 (0.1695 inches), built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with an oxide coating for heat resistance and extended tool life. It features a 135-degree split-point tip that reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust force, making it well suited for hard, work-hardening materials. The fast-spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation in deeper holes. The web-thinned, tapered web construction keeps cutting forces manageable while maintaining rigidity. This bit is intended for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working on production or field drilling applications where standard HSS tooling falls short.
The C15930 is rated for superalloy workpiece materials, making it appropriate for aerospace, defense, and heavy industrial maintenance work where nickel-based alloys, stainless steels, and similar difficult materials are common. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters. With a 3.25-inch overall length and 1-1/16-inch flute length, it is sized for typical jobber-reach applications. The right-hand cutting direction is compatible with standard drill press, CNC, and hand-tool spindle rotation. Series 3780 identifies the product family within CLEVELAND's heavy-duty cobalt line.
Designed as a jobber-length replacement drill bit for use with standard drill chucks accepting a 0.1695-inch straight-cylindrical shank, suitable for drill presses, CNC machines, and power hand tools in heavy-duty metalworking applications.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using standard drill press or hand-tool equipment. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before drilling. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before starting the spindle. For superalloy materials, use a compatible cutting fluid to manage heat buildup and maximize tool life.
