The CLEVELAND C15909 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for drilling into superalloys, hard steels, and other demanding workpiece materials. Built to Series 3780 heavy-duty specifications, it carries an M42 cobalt steel construction with an oxide coating for heat and wear resistance. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and decreases the thrust required to start a hole without a center punch. A fast spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. This bit is sized at 7/64 inches in diameter with a 2-5/8-inch overall length, making it a standard jobber-length tool suited to drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills used in fabrication and maintenance work.
The C15909 is appropriate for professional metalworking applications where standard HSS bits fail prematurely. Its primary designation is superalloy drilling, but the M42 cobalt grade and oxide coating also perform well in stainless steel, hardened alloys, and cast iron. The straight-cylindrical shank accommodates standard three-jaw chucks. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drilling operations. This bit is sold individually and is intended for trade and industrial use where per-bit precision and durability are required across repeated operations.
Designed as an OEM-grade replacement or direct-use drill bit compatible with any standard three-jaw chuck or collet system accepting a 7/64-inch straight-cylindrical shank, including drill presses, hand drills, and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians using standard drill press or hand-held drilling equipment. Ensure the chuck is fully tightened and the workpiece is secured before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling superalloys to manage heat buildup, as this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Follow shop safety practices and applicable OSHA standards when operating rotary cutting tools.
