The CLEVELAND C15672 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit sized to Letter X (0.3970 inches) with a 135-degree split point and TiN coating. Built from M42 high-performance cobalt steel, it delivers the heat resistance and edge retention needed for drilling hard and abrasive materials. The parabolic flute geometry accelerates chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup during deep drilling. At 5.125 inches overall length with a 3.750-inch flute length, this drill fits standard jobber-length applications in machine shops, fabrication, and maintenance environments. Right-hand cutting direction. Straight-cylindrical shank at 0.3970 inches diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and collets.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon steel. The web-thinned, tapered web construction reduces thrust requirements at entry, making it practical for hand-held drilling operations as well as CNC and manual drill press setups. The TiN coating provides additional surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life in interrupted cuts and abrasive workpieces. It is a common choice for sheet metal shops, HVAC fabricators, plumbing contractors, and industrial maintenance technicians working with hard or challenging materials.
Designed for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon steel; fits standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 0.3970-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the CLEVELAND Series 2075 high-performance cobalt drill line.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by a qualified machinist or tradesperson familiar with drill press, lathe, or CNC equipment operation. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and confirm concentricity. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to manage heat, particularly when drilling stainless steel. Do not exceed the rated cutting parameters for the machine and workpiece combination.
