The CLEVELAND C15669 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit sized to Letter U (0.3680 inches) with a 135-degree split point and TiN coating. Built from M42 high-performance cobalt steel, it is designed for demanding drilling applications where standard HSS bits lose their edge. The parabolic flute geometry clears chips aggressively, reducing heat buildup and extending tool life in tough materials. Overall length is 5.0 inches with a flute length of 3.625 inches. This is a right-hand cutting drill with a straight cylindrical shank, conforming to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards. It is sold individually and suited for professional machining and fabrication environments.
The C15669 is intended for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and general carbon and alloy steels. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry without requiring a center punch on most setups, making it practical for production drilling and repair work. The web-thinned, tapered web construction helps maintain rigidity while improving chip evacuation. Machinists, tool and die makers, maintenance technicians, and fabricators will find this bit well suited for interrupted cuts and materials that work-harden under slow or dull tooling.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and CNC machining centers accepting straight cylindrical shanks of 0.3680 inches. Suitable for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel workpieces as noted in Series 2075 application guidance.
Secure the shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet rated for the shank diameter before use. Ensure the drilling machine is powered off and at a full stop before bit changes. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for stainless steel and hard alloys to prevent work hardening and premature edge wear. Inspect the cutting edges and point for wear or chipping before each use and replace when the split point or flutes show signs of degradation.
