The CLEVELAND C15113 is a cobalt screw machine length drill bit in No. 23 wire size, equivalent to 0.1540 inches in diameter. Built to the Series 2175A specification and conforming to ASME B94.11M standards, it features a 135-degree split point with web thinning for fast, accurate penetration with reduced thrust. The parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. At 2-1/16 inches overall length, this is a stub-length format intended for close-quarters drilling and use in screw machine and CNC applications where rigidity matters. Cobalt construction provides heat and wear resistance beyond standard HSS bits.
This bit is suited for production drilling in alloy steels and aluminum where heat buildup and tool wear are primary concerns. The screw machine length profile keeps the bit stiff under load, making it a common choice for drill presses, turret lathes, and CNC machining centers. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.1540 inches diameter fits standard three-jaw chucks and collet holders. Right-hand cut, parallel web configuration, and the 135-degree split point reduce walking on entry and minimize the need for a center punch on flat stock.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or production-use drill bit for applications requiring a No. 23 wire size, 0.1540-inch diameter screw machine length bit. Suitable for use with any standard three-jaw chuck or collet system accepting a 0.1540-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials listed are alloy steel and aluminum.
Install and remove bits only with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at a complete stop. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized collet or chuck to prevent slippage and runout. Verify spindle speed is appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before operation. Inspect the cutting edges and split point for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if edge integrity is compromised.
