The CLEVELAND C15082 is a screw machine length cobalt drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in tough materials. Built from M42 cobalt steel, it handles alloy steels, aluminum, and other demanding workpiece materials where standard high-speed steel bits wear prematurely. The 135-degree split point geometry reduces walking and lowers the thrust needed to start a hole, so no center punch is required on most surfaces. The parabolic flute profile accelerates chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup during deep drilling operations. At 4 inches overall length with a 2.5-inch flute, this is a compact stub-style bit suited for close-quarter machine setups.
The C15082 is used in machine shop environments, production drilling, and field fabrication where a rigid, short-body bit is preferred over jobber-length alternatives. Its straight cylindrical shank seats cleanly in drill chucks and CNC tool holders. Primary applications include drilling alloy steel, aluminum, and similar materials in light manufacturing, HVAC equipment fabrication, and structural applications. The right-hand cut and web-thinned design are optimized for drill press, milling machine, and lathe use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit screw machine drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and CNC tool holders accepting a 0.5625-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for workpiece materials including alloy steel and aluminum per Series 2175A specifications.
This bit should be installed by qualified machinists or trades professionals familiar with drilling equipment and safe tool-change procedures. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or tool holder before operation and confirm runout is within acceptable limits. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend bit life and improve hole quality.
