The CLEVELAND C14810 is a screw machine length cobalt drill bit designed for high-speed drilling in tough materials including alloy steel and aluminum. At 6.8 mm (0.2677 inches) in diameter with a 135-degree split point and web-thinned tip, it starts on contact without center-punching and reduces thrust in hard materials. The two-flute spiral design with a parallel web configuration promotes chip evacuation in short-hole applications. Overall length is 74 mm (2.91 inches), making it suited for confined-space drilling where a jobber-length bit would interfere with a chuck or fixture. This is an M42 cobalt heavy-duty grade bit built to handle interrupted cuts and abrasive workpieces that would degrade standard HSS tooling.
Screw machine length bits like the C14810 are standard in production machining, fabrication shops, and maintenance environments where rigidity and precision matter more than reach. The shortened flute length of 34 mm (1.34 inches) and straight-cylindrical shank at 0.2677 inches diameter make it compatible with standard keyed and keyless chucks on drill presses, CNC machines, and portable power drills. Primary workpiece materials include alloy steel and aluminum. The right-hand cut and regular spiral make it a general-purpose workhorse across metal fabrication and mechanical assembly operations.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for applications requiring a screw machine length drill bit in the 6.50 to 8.00 mm (0.2500 to 0.3000 inch) size range per CLEVELAND Series 2133.
Install in a properly rated drill chuck and confirm shank seating before applying feed pressure. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling. Use cutting fluid when drilling alloy steel to extend tool life and maintain hole quality. Do not exceed the rated RPM for the bit diameter and workpiece material combination.
