The CLEVELAND C14808 is a cobalt screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed drilling in demanding industrial and metalworking applications. It measures 0.2559 inches in diameter with an overall length of 2.756 inches, making it a compact, stub-length tool suited for close-clearance drilling operations. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and allows drilling to begin without a center punch in many setups. With a web-thinned parallel web and two right-hand spiral flutes, this bit produces clean, accurate holes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is built to Series 2133 standards and conforms to ASME B94.11M and DIN 1897 specifications.
This drill bit is rated for use in alloy steels and aluminum, making it a practical choice for machine shops, fabrication facilities, and production environments where consistent hole quality is required. The screw machine length profile keeps the tool rigid and reduces deflection compared to jobber-length bits, which is especially useful in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and turret lathes. Heavy-duty M42 cobalt construction allows operation at higher cutting speeds and temperatures than standard high-speed steel bits, extending tool life in abrasive or hard materials.
Designed as a direct-fit screw machine length drill bit for use in standard straight-cylindrical shank tool holders, drill chucks, and collet systems accepting a 0.2559-inch shank diameter. Suitable for alloy steel and aluminum workpieces.
This bit is installed and removed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following standard tool-change procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck or collet to the full depth of the shank to prevent runout. Do not exceed the tool's rated cutting speed for the workpiece material, and apply cutting fluid as appropriate for the material being drilled.
