The CLEVELAND C14584 is a cobalt screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed, high-heat drilling in demanding trade and production environments. Built to ASME B94.11M and DIN 1897 standards, this wire gauge size 26 bit measures 0.1470 inches in diameter with an overall length of 2-1/16 inches. The 135-degree split point reduces walking at entry and lowers thrust force, making it well suited for interrupted cuts and hard materials. The M42 cobalt high-speed steel construction resists heat buildup during extended drilling cycles. A two-flute spiral design with web thinning promotes chip evacuation and reduces torque at the cutting edge.
This bit is used in production machining, maintenance repair, and fabrication work where hole accuracy and tool longevity in tough materials matter. The screw machine length format — shorter overall length than a jobber bit — provides added rigidity when drilling alloy steels and aluminum in tight setups or multi-spindle fixtures. Right-hand cutting direction suits standard drill press, CNC, and handheld applications. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw chucks and collet holders without modification.
Designed for use in standard three-jaw chucks and collet holders accepting a 0.1470-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials listed by the manufacturer include alloy steel and aluminum. Series 2133 screw machine length format.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by machinists, tool and die technicians, or experienced trade professionals familiar with drill press and CNC setup procedures. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before drilling. Follow proper speeds and feeds for the workpiece material — cobalt bits tolerate higher surface speeds than standard HSS but still require appropriate cutting fluid on ferrous materials. Do not exceed the rated capacity of the drill press or spindle holding this tool.
