The CLEVELAND C14535 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers increased heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS bits, making it well suited for hard or abrasive workpiece materials. The bit features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and requires less thrust to start a hole. At 5/64 inch (0.0781 inch decimal) in diameter with a 1-11/16 inch overall length, it fits compact drilling situations where a jobber-length bit would be impractical. The straight cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders.
This bit is intended for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, fabricators, and tradespeople drilling alloy steel, aluminum, and similar materials in production or field service settings. The screw machine length format provides added rigidity and accuracy in short-hole drilling operations on drill presses, CNC machines, and hand-held power drills. The parallel web configuration and web-thinned geometry help reduce cutting resistance and improve chip evacuation during use.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 0.0781 inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling alloy steel and aluminum workpieces per the Series 2133 product specification.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with rotary cutting tools and safe drilling practices. Ensure the drill chuck or collet is fully tightened and the workpiece is securely clamped before beginning any drilling operation. Appropriate cutting fluid or coolant should be applied when drilling hard alloy materials to extend tool life and maintain hole quality. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if damage is observed.
