The CLEVELAND C14531 is a cobalt screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed drilling in tough materials. Built to Series 2133 specifications, it carries a wire gauge size of 49, which equals 0.0730 inches in decimal. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and requires less thrust than a conventional 118-degree grind. Overall length is 1-11/16 inches with an 11/16-inch flute length, making it well suited for short-reach, high-precision drilling applications. The M42 cobalt material grade provides heat resistance for extended tool life in demanding production environments. This is a heavy-duty grade bit intended for machinists, tool-and-die shops, and maintenance technicians who drill alloy steel, aluminum, and similar materials regularly.
The C14531 is built for screw machine and short-hole drilling operations where a jobber-length bit would be unnecessarily long or prone to deflection. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters. Typical applications include drilling pilot holes, through-holes, and clearance holes in alloy steel and aluminum on drill presses, CNC machines, and hand-held power tools. The web-thinned, parallel-web geometry reduces cutting resistance and improves chip evacuation in both through and blind-hole work. This bit is packaged individually but is sold in minimum order quantities of 10 units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production-use drill bit for standard drill chucks accepting a 0.0730-inch straight cylindrical shank, compatible with drill presses, CNC machining centers, and portable power tools used on alloy steel and aluminum workpieces.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the straight cylindrical shank fully in a properly sized chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed before powering the machine. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling alloy steel to extend tool life and manage heat. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dulling is observed to maintain hole tolerance.
