The CLEVELAND C14253 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-productivity drilling in demanding trade and manufacturing applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with an oxide and straw coating, it holds cutting edge hardness at elevated temperatures, making it well suited for tough or abrasive workpiece materials. The 135-degree split point starts on contact without walking, reducing the need for a center punch. At 0.1850 inches in diameter and 2-3/16 inches overall length, this short-length geometry provides rigidity and accuracy in tight-clearance drilling setups. It is installed by machinists, tool-and-die workers, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians working on production drilling tasks.
The C14253 is sized as wire gauge Number 13 and fits standard straight-cylindrical shank drill chucks. The parabolic flute profile accelerates chip evacuation, which is especially useful in deep-hole drilling and when working through gummy materials like aluminum, stainless steel, and nickel alloy. The screw machine length body reduces deflection compared to jobber-length bits, making it a preferred choice in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and handheld power tools where a stiff, compact drill is needed.
Compatible with aluminum, brass, carbon steel, cast iron, nickel alloy, plastics, stainless steel, and tool steel workpieces. Fits any straight-cylindrical shank chuck accepting a 0.1850-inch shank. Part of the Cleveland Series 2175 heavy-duty cobalt drill bit line.
Install in a properly rated drill chuck and verify shank seating before operation. Disconnect power to the machine and engage all guarding before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid for ferrous materials to extend tool life and maintain dimensional tolerance. Follow applicable ANSI and shop safety standards for rotating cutting tools.
