The CLEVELAND C12154 is a taper shank drill bit designed for general-purpose metal drilling in machine shop and industrial environments. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, it delivers reliable performance in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 1MT (Morse Taper 1) shank mounts directly into compatible drill presses, lathes, and milling machines. At 3/8 inch (0.3750 inches) in diameter, with a 118-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned tip, the bit starts cleanly and cuts efficiently without excessive thrust force. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users of this bit.
This bit suits general-purpose drilling operations in machine shops, job sites, and maintenance facilities. The 3-1/2 inch spiral flute length supports chip evacuation across a wide range of drilling depths. The right-hand cutting direction and regular spiral make it compatible with standard spindle rotation on most drill press and lathe setups. It is sized for light- to medium-duty applications where a 1MT taper shank interface is the specified mounting style.
Designed for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with a No. 1 Morse Taper (1MT) spindle socket. Suitable for general-purpose drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before inserting or removing the taper shank. Clean the taper socket and shank seating surfaces before mounting to ensure proper seating and concentricity. A drift key and soft mallet are the standard tools for removal; never strike the bit directly with a hard hammer.
