The CLEVELAND C11690 is a wire gauge No. 36 jobber length drill bit manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish. It measures 0.1065 inches in diameter and features a 135-degree split point for fast engagement and reduced walking on entry. The two-flute spiral design with regular helix and web-thinned, tapered web construction supports efficient chip evacuation. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a 1.4375-inch flute length and a straight-cylindrical shank. This bit meets NAS 907 Type B standards and carries a heavy duty grade designation. It is installed and used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking tradespeople.
The C11690 is well suited for drilling aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials in production and maintenance applications. The split point geometry reduces thrust and allows drilling without a center punch in many setups. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks, making it compatible with handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC drilling equipment. At 2.5 inches overall, this is a compact jobber-length bit suited for confined-area work and general-purpose hole making in light to medium material stock.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard-stock jobber length drill bit for any application calling for a No. 36 wire gauge, 0.1065-inch diameter, straight-shank drill bit conforming to NAS 907 Type B. Primary workpiece material rating is aluminum; also suitable for general non-ferrous and light ferrous drilling at appropriate feeds and speeds.
Install in a properly sized drill chuck, ensuring the shank is fully seated and the chuck is tightened at all three positions where applicable. Power down or de-energize any machine tool completely before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubrication for the workpiece material to extend bit life. Inspect the split point and cutting edges for wear before each use — a dull or chipped point significantly increases thrust and can cause workpiece damage or bit breakage.
