The CLEVELAND C11683 is a jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge No. 29 (0.1360 inches decimal), designed for general-purpose drilling in production and maintenance environments. Built from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on contact, minimizing the need for a center punch on flat stock. The heavy-duty grade construction and web-thinned, tapered web geometry promote clean chip evacuation through the two-flute spiral design. Licensed HVAC, mechanical, and sheet-metal contractors, as well as maintenance technicians, reach for this size when drilling pilot holes and clearance holes in light-gauge materials.
The C11683 is particularly well suited for drilling aluminum and similar non-ferrous or light ferrous materials where a sharp, self-centering point and consistent diameter tolerance are critical. With an overall length of 2.875 inches and a flute length of 1.750 inches, it fits standard three-jaw chucks on benchtop drill presses, handheld power drills, and drill motors used in fabrication shops and field service. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.1360 inches diameter seats securely in keyless and keyed chucks alike. This bit meets NAS 907 Type B standards, making it appropriate for applications where a recognized specification is required.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks on handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC drilling equipment. Primary workpiece material compatibility is aluminum per the manufacturer specification; suitable for other non-ferrous and light ferrous stock at appropriate speeds and feeds.
Install this bit in a properly sized keyless or keyed chuck, tightening fully at all three chuck positions to prevent slippage under load. Disengage power and lock out the drill press or tool before changing bits. Match spindle speed to material and bit diameter using a standard speeds-and-feeds reference for high speed steel; running too fast in hard materials will shorten edge life significantly. Eye protection and chip guarding are required per standard shop safety practices.
