The CLEVELAND C11627 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for production and maintenance drilling in metal fabrication, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trade work. Built from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this bit features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on contact and requires no center-punch on most materials. The 15/32-inch diameter measures 0.4688 inches in decimal, with a total overall length of 5.75 inches and a spiral flute length of 4.3125 inches. A tapered web with web-thinning geometry reduces thrust load and improves chip evacuation during through-hole drilling. This is a heavy-duty grade bit suited for frequent, repetitive use in trade environments.
The C11627 is listed as optimized for aluminum as the primary workpiece material, though the high speed steel construction and NAS 907 Type B specification make it appropriate for general-purpose drilling in soft metals, plastics, and similar materials. Typical applications include drilling conduit knockouts, sheet metal enclosures, pipe flanges, and structural members in residential and light commercial settings. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard 3-jaw keyed and keyless drill chucks commonly used in corded drills, drill presses, and magnetic base drills.
Designed as a jobber-length replacement drill bit for use with standard 3-jaw drill chucks accepting a 0.4688-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with drill presses, corded electric drills, and magnetic base drills. Listed for primary use in aluminum workpieces per Series 2222 application data.
Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck jaws before drilling and verify chuck key tightening on keyed chucks. Eye protection and secure workpiece clamping are required when drilling metal. Reduce feed rate as the bit exits the workpiece to prevent grab or bit deflection. Inspect cutting edges for wear or chipping after extended use, as a dull split-point edge increases thrust load and can cause oversized holes or bit breakage.
